YOUTH BOXING CLASSES
BOXING: The Sweet Science
The days of going to a martial arts gym with a "survival of the fittest" mentality are over. At 417 Boxing you will learn boxing in a controlled atmosphere alongside others who also want to box. Coach Glenn Cozzens is an AIBA and USA certified boxing coach. He has coached both youth and adults for over 20 years. Over the years, Coach Cozzens has created a positive environment for athletes of all levels and ages to build character, and achieve their personal goals through mental and physical fitness, discipline, and intelligence.

Coach Trenton Ortega has been boxing with coach Cozzens for over 10 years. Coach Trenton is highly interactive with the youth boxers, giving them the right timing and training they need to become a champion.

Safety - The first and foremost concern of ours, is your safety. No boxer will spar until they have completed our program on how to defend themselves. This creates a much more fair and enjoyable experience when learning to box. When sparing, all boxers wear headgear and mouthpieces to assure maximum safety.

Character Building - Through the use of the following four pillars of character, we teach the youth in our classes how to become young men and women of character at home and in our community.
- Honor: Respecting those placed in authority over us
- Responsibility: Knowing and doing what is expected of me
- Self Control: Rejecting wrong desires and choosing to do what is right
- Discernment: Understanding the deeper meaning of why things happen

Bullying - Through the Bully-Be-Gone model we teach the youth in our classes how to handle all types of bullying from the perspectives of the Bully, Victim, and Bystanders.
Schools have a “zero-tolerance” for fighting. Who does this favor? The bully or the victim? While this policy does reduce the amount of physical fights that the school may encounter, what about the verbal bullying? Verbal harassment is more damaging and lasting than physical harassment. In our Boxing classes we teach youth how to protect themselves from and negotiate with a bully using the skills they train each day.
